Marietta, GA : Woman dies in Henry County school bus crash on Thursday, October, 19th 2017

The driver of a passenger vehicle is dead after colliding with a school bus in Locust Grove.

Henry County Schools spokesman J.D. Hardin said the children and their driver are fine.

“There were four students on board from Luella High School and one driver,” he said in a statement. “All occupants of the bus were checked out at the scene and released.”

Henry County police said the crash victim is 78-year-old Maria T. Timen of Locust Grove.

The incident occurred on Hampton Locust Grove Road near Wyckliffe Drive on Oct. 17 at about 4 p.m., police said.

Timen was driving a 2009 Hyundai Sonata eastbound as the school bus was coming in the opposite direction.

Police spokesman Maj. Mike Ireland said she crossed over the yellow line, “colliding head-on with the school bus.”

She was killed instantly, he said.
