HARRISON COUNTY, MS : Man killed in motorcycle crash was riding stolen bike on April, Wednesday 12th 2017

A Long Beach man died Wednesday after crashing a stolen motorcycle in Harrison County, Sheriff Troy Peterson said.

According to Peterson, a deputy on routine patrol spotted a man on a motorcycle speeding on Hwy. 53 just before 5:30 p.m. The rider was not wearing a helmet.

Peterson said the deputy turned his patrol vehicle around and sped off to catch up to the bike. As the deputy was closing in on the motorcycle, Peterson said the rider crashed near the intersection of Houston Ladner Rd. and Saucier Lizana Rd.

The rider was identified as Neil Stewart Firm, 40. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Peterson said the motorcycle Firm was riding had been reported stolen out of Gulfport earlier in the day.

The crash is still being investigated by the Harrison County Coroner and the Sheriff’s Department Accident Reconstructionist.
