ELYSBURG, PA : Three people were injured in a three-vehicle accident on Monday, July 17, 2017

Three people were injured in a three-vehicle accident Monday afternoon on Route 54.

The wreck happened at 2:31 p.m., just west of Kaboodle Road in Rush Township, state police at Stonington said.

According to police, Duane A. Winnie, 28, of Mount Carmel, pulled his small SUV from the entrance of Sensing Produce onto Route 54, into the path of of a pickup truck operated by Ashley L. Ciocco, 22, of Elysburg.

As Ciocco veered her truck to the left to avoid a collision, it crossed the road and collided head-on with a westbound pickup truck, operated by Thomas G. Krick, 66, of Catawissa.

Police said Winnie, Ciocco and a passenger in Ciocco's vehicle, Edward R. Ciocco, 50, of Elysburg, were all taken to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville for treatment of minor injuries. Three other passengers in the Winnie vehicle were not injured, police said.

Route 54 was closed for a time while emergency personnel cleared the three damaged vehicles. The Elysburg Fire Department and EMS personnel assisted state police at the scene.
