A teenage boy who had been riding his skateboard on a sidewalk in downtown Boise is dead after a collision with a large pickup truck. The Idaho Statesman reports that the truck, driven by a 43-year-old Boise man, was leaving a parking garage Saturday when it struck the 14-year-old. Police said witnesses reported differing accounts as to whether the boy was riding his skateboard at the time or whether he had bent over to pick it up. Police said the boy was conscious after the collision and immediately jumped up. An off-duty firefighter who was nearby gave the teen immediate medical attention until paramedics arrived to take him to a nearby hospital, where he died.
