A 69-year-old New York man was taken to an area hospital Sunday after crashing his motorcycle on Route 530.

Thomas Pelletier, 69, of Nanuet, N.Y., was riding a 1999 Harley Davidson FLS westbound on Route 530 around 12:15 pm. when he attempted to turn left into Whiting Memorial Park, police said.

Pelletier lost control of the motorcycle when he drove over a patch of loose gravel, which caused the motorcycle to strike the curb near the park's entrance, police said.
