Portland, OR : Pedestrian in critical condition after SE Portland crash on Wednesday, January 4, 2017

A California man cooperated with officers after he drove a car that hit a woman Wednesday in Southeast Portland, police said.

Police identified the people involved in the crash that occurred about 5:15 p.m. in the 10100 block of Southeast Main Street.

Jessica Michelle Moore, 43, of Northwest Portland suffered life-threatening injuries and remains hospitalized in critical condition, said Sgt. Pete Simpson, police spokesman, in a brief news release.

William Schuyler Gilmour, 56, of Elk Grove, California, was driving his white Kia Forte westbound on Main when he hit Moore, who was in a crosswalk, Simpson said.

Traffic investigators believe Gilmore was driving at or below the speed limit, and they found no evidence he was impaired, Simpson said. There are no traffic lights on the roadway.

"Investigators will continue to review information as part of the ongoing investigation," Simpson said.

Once the investigation is complete, Simpson said investigators will forward their findings to the Multnomah County District Attorney's Office for review.
