Lubbock,TX : Police seek driver who crashed stolen truck into pole, left wounded passenger behind on April, Tuesday 17th 2018

Lubbock police are searching for a person who crashed a stolen vehicle into a telephone pole, fleeing on foot while leaving their injured passenger in the vehicle Tuesday evening in Central Lubbock.

At approximately 8 p.m. in the area of 50th Street and Avenue Q, an officer attempted to pull over a pickup truck believed to be stolen, according to Lubbock police

The driver sped away and a pursuit was initiated. The officer turned onto Avenue P from 50th Street and saw the pickup truck had crashed into a telephone pole. The driver ran from the scene while the passenger stayed in the vehicle. The passenger was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Additional officers arrived on scene to search for the driver. After an extensive search, the driver was not located and police did not release a suspect description by late Tuesday.

The pickup truck was reported stolen on Feb. 3.
