Darien, N.Y : 40-year-old killed in accident involving road paving equipment in the Genesee County on Friday, August 26, 2016

State police say a 40-year-old man has been killed in an accident at a road construction project in western New York.

Troopers say Aaron Wellman was driving a pavement roller onto a flatbed trailer around 5:30 a.m. Friday on Broadway Road in the Genesee County town of Darien, 25 miles east of Buffalo.

Police say Wellman lost control of the roller, causing it to overturn off the trailer. He was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

An autopsy was being conducted to determine the cause of death.

The investigation into the accident is continuing.
