LEETOWN, WV : Kearneysville man dies in Monday crash on Monday, 12th October, 2020

A Kearneysville man died Monday after the car he was driving near Leetown was struck in the driver's side door by another vehicle, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office.

Robert Brandenburg, 45, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which was at the intersection of Old Leetown Pike with Darke Lane and Jefferson Orchard Road, according to Sheriff Pete Dougherty and a news release from the sheriff's office.

Brandenburg had been driving on Darke Lane around 9 a.m. when for some reason he tried to cross Old Leetown Pike while another vehicle was heading down the pike, Dougherty said.

A Jeep Wrangler on the pike hit the Toyota Camry that Brandenburg was driving in the driver's door, according to the release.
