China Grove, NC : Mother charged, daughter injured in Rowan County crash on Wednesday morning, August 17, 2016

A mother was charged after running a stop sign in China Grove Wednesday morning and crashing into a truck, injuring her three children in the car.

Troopers say the woman, now identified as Michelle Jenkins, 33, of Kannapolis, was driving on Patterson Road around 9 a.m. when she blew through the stop sign at Brown Road and crashed into a Toyota Tundra driven by Ryan Cress, 36, of China Grove.

The daughters of Michelle Jenkins, age 7, 12 and 15, were all injured in the crash.

The 15-year-old was airlifted to Carolinas Medical Center. The woman, her two other daughters and the driver of the truck all went to Northeast Medical Center.

The woman was charged with child restraint violation and stop sign violation.

The intersection was blocked for a time.
