Two elderly women were killed by a wrong-way driver Monday evening in Citrus County. The Florida Highway Patrol says Ruby Pearl Ray, 74, of Nixa, Missouri and Greta Overbay, 75, of Roachdale, Indiana died when their car was hit head-on by a driver going the wrong way on U.S. 19 at about 9:45 p.m. The women were driving in the northbound, inside lane just north of Stonebrook Drive when they were hit by a Nissan Xterra driven by Marianne Campbell, 51, of Fort Lauderdale. The exact location on U.S. 19 where Campbell began driving the wrong way is not known, according to FHP. Campbell was airlifted to Ocala Regional Hospital in critical condition.
