Bellevue, WA : Teen seriously injured in crash in the 5200 block of Highland Drive on Monday night, August 8, 2016

High speed and alcohol or drugs are believed to be factors in a rollover crash Monday night that seriously injured one teen and left three others with minor injuries, Bellevue police said.

Officers and other emergency personnel responded to the scene, in the 5200 block of Highland Drive, at around 10 p.m. after receiving reports of a serious crash, said Seth Tyler of the Bellevue police.

The mangled wreckage of a car was found flipped over on its roof in the middle of the roadway at the scene.
One seriously injured teenage passenger was found trapped inside the front passenger seat. Firefighters used heavy extrication equipment to remove the passenger from the car, then rushed him to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with serious injuries.

The driver, an 18-year-old Bellevue resident, sustained minor injuries, along with two other teenage passengers who were able to get out of the wreckage on their own.

A preliminary investigation found that the driver apparently lost control while speeeding, then flipped the car over.

"Investigators believe that speed and drugs or alcohol were factors in this crash," Tyler said in a prepared statement.

The crash remains under investigation.
