Chattanooga, TN : Two separate crashes in McMinn County on Saturday, 31st March 2018

Two separate crashes in McMinn County, Tenn., left at least two people dead over the weekend.

The first crash took place Saturday evening at 7:09 p.m., according to a report from the Tennessee Highway Patrol. Alan Ursy, 53, of Athens, Tenn., was driving a 1997 Toyota Avalon north on County Road 635.

A witness told a THP trooper that Ursy almost hit him at the top of a hill. Ursy swerved to avoid the collision, running off the road and striking a culvert. His vehicle spun and came to a rest on the left shoulder of the roadway.

The traffic report states that Ursy was not wearing a seatbelt and may have been drinking. Tests have been requested to confirm.

Preliminary reports for the second crash have not been released yet. Fatalities have been confirmed in that crash, but it's not yet clear how many.
