Old Nassau Imports Founder, Chairman and CEO Dr. Malcolm Lloyd died, 2 others injured in crash that inolved Lamborhini on April 24th 2014, MacArthur Causeway in Miami Beach.

One man was killed and two others were injured in a crash that shut down the MacArthur Causeway in Miami Beach for several hours Thursday.

Miami Beach police said a Lamborghini Aventador was traveling more than 100 mph shortly before 3 a.m. when it crashed into the back of a sport utility vehicle that was stopped at a red light in the westbound lanes of the bridge that connects Miami Beach to Miami.

Sgt. Bobby Hernandez said the fact that the car came to a rest dozens of feet away was "indicative of a very high rate of speed."

Both the driver of the Lamborghini and the Chevrolet Suburban were taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital.

Old Nassau Imports Founder, Chairman and CEO Dr. Malcolm Lloyd, the passenger in the Lamborghini, died at the scene.

"The person that passed away is the brother-in-law of the driver of the Lamborghini," Hernandez said.

Old Nassau Imports released a statement Thursday night to Local 10:

"It saddens us to confirm that Old Nassau Imports Founder, Chairman and CEO Dr. Malcolm Lloyd died unexpectedly this morning in an automobile accident in Miami Beach, Fla. All of us at Old Nassau Imports are heartbroken over the loss our friend and leader.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time. At this time, we ask the privacy of his family and colleagues be respected."

An attorney for Raul Alfonzo, the driver of the SUV, said his client was on his way home from work at the time of the crash. Alfonzo suffered several broken bones and is wearing a neck brace.

Police said the driver of the Lamborghini, later identified as Andres Toro, is at fault for the crash. Hernandez said he will likely face a charge of reckless driving and could face more charges pending the results of drug and alcohol tests taken at the hospital.
