Police say a Rhode Island resident was hospitalized with serious injuries after an accident led to a vehicle igniting in North Kingstown.
The Providence Journal reports fire crews were dispatched to the scene on Potter Road around 10:10 a.m. Tuesday following reports that a motor vehicle crashed into a pole.
Deputy Chief Philip Aldrich says firefighters arrived to find the vehicle "fully involved." One person, who was not identified, was found inside the car.
The victim was transported to an area hospital with severe injuries that were not considered life threatening.
Police are investigating the cause of the crash. Aldrich says he believes the area's "windy road" was a factor.
