Providence,RI : Patriots rookie hurt in 3-vehicle Foxboro crash on October, Monday 9th 2017

A New England Patriots rookie linebacker and a passenger in his car were among the five people hospitalized following a violent, three-vehicle accident in Foxboro Friday night, the team announced yesterday.

Harvey Langi, 25, and an unidentified passenger were stopped at a red light when their car was rear-ended by another vehicle, the Patriots said in a statement, adding that they both received “medical attention” and the team’s “thoughts are with Harvey, the Langi family and those who sustained injuries.”

Foxboro firefighters responding to a reported three-car motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Commercial and Fisher streets about 9:30 p.m. said they found “a three-car rear-end collision with serious damage and entrapment” that required first responders to use the Jaws of Life to free a trapped victim.

Five people were rushed to area hospitals with injuries sustained in the crash, a fire official said.

A hospital spokesman said Langi was discharged from Rhode Island Hospital yesterday. None of the other victims was identified by police or fire officials.

Photos shared by the Foxboro Fire Department Friday night showed investigators looking over a black SUV with its front end crushed into the back of a totaled dark-colored sedan. Both vehicles had their air bags deployed.

Langi, a rookie from Brigham Young University, signed with the Patriots as an undrafted free agent after this year’s NFL draft.
