Anderson County, TN : Three people died in a car crash on Friday night August 8th 2014

Two of the three people killed in a fatal crash Friday night in Anderson County were City of Knoxville employees. Knoxville Communications Manager Eric Vreeland confirmed to 10News that Melissa A. Kelley and William A. Housley both worked for the city. He said Housley worked the information systems help desk and started in November 2004. Kelley worked for the Knoxville City Court Clerk for the past 13 years. Knoxville City Judge John Rosson described Kelley as a very good lady and worker who will be missed. Knoxville mayor Madeline Rogero released a statement Saturday night: "Losing two longtime city employees certainly takes an emotional toll on all of us in city government, and our heartfelt condolences go out to Will and Missy's families, friends, and co-workers." According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, Kelley, Housley, and Kurt J. Miner, 25, died after their car flipped during a crash Friday night in the Heiskell area of Anderson County. Kelley, 45, was driving too fast on Wolf Valley Road and attempted to make a slight left curve around 11:30 p.m. The momentum caused the car to go air born, flip, and eject all three passengers. In addition to Kelley, William A. Housley,44, and Kurt J. Miner, 25, also died. None of the three passengers were wearing a seat belt. THP said wearing a seat belt would have made a difference in the outcome of the crash. The report said alcohol may have been a factor.
