Grand Forks,ND : Three dead, others injured in semi-van crash near Grand Forks airport on July, Tuesday 18th 2017

At least three people died in a Tuesday evening two-vehicle crash with multiple injuries on U.S. Highway 2 west of the Grand Forks airport.

The 6:45 p.m. crash left a white passenger van on its side with a shattered windshield in the highway’s median and a white semi with front-end damage waiting near an emergency vehicle further to the west.

Trooper Cody Nuenthel of the North Dakota Highway Patrol was still on the scene with numerous other emergency responders at about 7:30 p.m. He said a “commercial vehicle” driven by a 43-year-old Northwood, N.D., man struck the white van, which rolled into the median. Both vehicles were headed west.

Killed in the crash were three of the nine passengers in the 2007 Chevrolet Express van. Their names were being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The condition of the driver of the van, a 43-year-old Grand Forks woman, was not released by the patrol in a late-night report. The semi driver wasn’t injured.

Other passengers in the van were also taken to Altru Hospital in Grand Forks. Their conditions were not released late Tuesday night either.
