Mayes County, OK : Claremore woman died in a crash on State Highway 28, east of Adair Sunday, August 14, 2016

A Claremore woman has died as a result of a Sunday crash in Mayes County, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reports.

Kacie McKnight, 33, died Monday in a Tulsa hospital following a crash about 7:45 p.m. Sunday on State Highway 28 about 3 miles east of Adair.

The patrol reports that Derek Green, 32, of Chelsea, was driving a sport utility vehicle east on SH 28 and McKnight was stopped facing east on SH 28 waiting to turn left into a private drive.

The SUV driven by Green struck the car driven by McKnight in the rear, the patrol reports.

Green was not injured.

Seat belts were in use in both vehicles, the patrol reports.
