Gray, ME : Lewiston man dies following I-95 crash in Gray on Monday morning, August 8, 2016

A man whose car crashed into a paving roller Monday morning on the Maine Turnpike has died from his injuries, according to authorities.

Henry Roy, 89, of Lewiston died shortly after arriving at Central Maine Medical Center, Maine Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland said.

Roy struck a construction barrel near Exit 63 and collided with the rear of a roller driven by Blaine Bradeen, 49, of Livermore, McCausland said.

The impact pinned Roy inside his sedan before he was freed by rescue personnel.

The crash occurred around 9 a.m. on the northbound side of the highway, which already had been reduced to one lane because of paving operations.

The crash caused the turnpike to be closed in the area for much of the morning.

Bradeen suffered leg injuries and was taken to CMCC for treatment.
