A Kansas woman was killed early Friday in a motorcycle accident on Interstate 29 near Onawa.

Dejanee Smith, 23, of Circleville, Kansas, died after a northbound Harley-Davidson motorcycle driven by Daniel Smith slid off I-29 and into the ditch at 4:01 a.m. According to the Iowa State Patrol, the rear tire on the bike blew out, causing Smith to lose control. Neither the driver nor the passenger was wearing a helmet, the patrol said.

Daniel Smith, 54, also of Circleville, was transported by medical helicopter to Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, where he was listed in fair condition.
