Two men were killed Wednesday in a head-on crash on I-43 in Sheboygan County involving a wrong-way driver, the sheriff's office said.
The crash was reported about 5:30 p.m. on southbound I-43 near mile marker 115 in the Town of Holland, according to the Sheboygan County Sheriff's Office.
According to a sheriff's office official, shortly before the crash a motorist was reported driving north in the southbound lanes of the highway.
The drivers and sole occupants of each vehicle, two men, ages 85 and 35, were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, according to a news release from the sheriff's office.
It is believed the older man was driving in the wrong direction before the crash, according to the release.
The crash forced the closure of the southbound lanes of I-43 in the area until about 8:30 p.m., according to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.
