Albany, NY : 27-year-old critically injured in a car crash in Argyle Monday, August 8, 2016

A 27-year-old from Cossayuna was critically injured Monday in a car crash in Argyle, the Washington County Sheriff's Office said.

The crash occurred at 5:40 p.m. on Route 49.

Deputies said David Higgins suffered serious injuries when his 2005 Dodge Stratus left the road and crashed head-on into a tree.

Rescuers had to cut the crumpled sedan away to get Higgins out of the wreckage, deputies said.
Critically injured, Higgins was flown by helicopter to Albany Medical Center.

The sheriff's department said no other vehicles were involved in the crash which remains under investigation.
