Columbia, MO : One man in fair condition following a police chase and car crash on I-70 in Boone County on Tuesday night, February 14, 2017

Two St. Louis men were injured in a Boone County car crash as they were being chased by police Tuesday night.

Boonville police noticed the pair's car, which matched the description of a car involved in a series of recent burglaries, and attempted to pull them over.

Roger A. Hanson, 45, and Joey A. Stoutt, 48, began to flee from police, according to a Boonville Police Department news release.

Boonville police were aided in their pursuit by Missouri State Highway Patrol, Boone County Sheriff's Department and Columbia Police Department. The suspect's car overturned after hitting spike strips on I-70 Drive Southeast near exit 133.

The car rolled across the road and struck a fence before coming to a stop in a field. Both men were hurt in the crash, and Stoutt was seriously injured. They were taken to University Hospital.

Neither occupant was wearing a seat belt.

Hanson was released into the custody of Boonville police after treatment. He was transported to the Cooper County Detention Center and was subsequently released for medical reasons, Assistant Chief of Police Randy Ayers said.

Stoutt was still being treated at University Hospital Thursday morning and was in fair condition.

Police had not yet filed burglary charges against either man Thursday afternoon.
