Nashville, TN : Three persons were injured after a car crashed into a creek at Lake View Drive On Thursday, August 18th, 2016

Several people were sent to the hospital after a car crashed into a creek in west Nashville early Thursday morning.

Police officers blocked off River Road Pike just south of Lake View Drive for hours. Crews were able to pull the car out of the creek bed around 4 a.m. Thursday.

Metro police said three people were in the car when the driver lost control, hit a guardrail and crashed into the creek bed.

One of the men inside the car left the scene to get help from a neighbor. Firefighters and police later helped a man onto a stretcher and also helped a woman out of the car around 1:30 a.m.

This part of River Road Pike is very windy and curvy. Officers on scene said crashes happen here all the time.

“Every year they have to keep coming back to replace the guardrail each time when somebody hits it head-on,” said Jerry Heath, a homeowner in the area.

The crash went through Heath’s driveway. He said drives miss the curve often, taking out his mailbox.

“Five to six mailboxes a year,” Heath said. “I’ve told Metro about it. They still won’t come out and straighten this curve or keep them bushes over there trimmed back so we can turn in. I mean I hate that I have to do it. I pay

someone to do it.”

Neighbors said speed is a problem on the road.

“We told several officers in west Nashville that they can come and park in our driveway and clock vehicles or just to watch to see just how fast these people are going,” said Matthew Warnecke, a neighbor.

Metro police are working to determine if alcohol or drugs were involved.

Everyone inside the car was treated at the hospital for minor injuries.
