An 18-year-old Methuen man was seriously injured in a two-car accident at the intersection of Turnpike Road and Route 31 Saturday morning, according to a press release from the Ashby Police Department.

A Toyota Camry traveling westbound on Turnpike Road did not heed a stop sign posted at the intersection and was struck by a GMC Acadia driving south on Route 31, flipping the Camry onto its roof, according to the release.

The Ashby Fire Department extricated the 18-year-old from the Camry and he was transported to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester with serious injuries, the release said. The driver, a 17-year-old boy from Lawrence, was transported to a local hospital with injuries believed to be non-life threatening.
