Lynchburg, VA : Woman injured in crash involving a motorcycle on U.S. 221 on Tuesday evening, August 2, 2016

A Bedford woman suffered non-life-threatening injuries after a crash involving a motorcycle Tuesday evening.

The Forest Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene to direct traffic as Virginia State Police troopers investigated the crash. A portion of U.S. 221 was shut down as crews worked to move the vehicles out of the roadway.

The crash occurred at the intersection of Brookhill Road and Forest Road at 7:45 p.m., according to Virginia State Police. A 2015 Harley-Davidson driven by Tammy Spradlin, 46, of Bedford was turning left onto Brookhill Road when it was rear-ended by a 2007 Chevrolet Malibu driven by Brittany Rowse, 18, of Forest.

Spradlin was taken to Lynchburg General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Rowse was charged with reckless driving, according to Virginia State Police.
