CHARLESTON, SC : Drivers hospitalized after crash involving Charleston County on Thursday, 28th January 2021

The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office confirmed one of its patrol cars was involved Thursday morning in a three-vehicle crash in North Charleston.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol responded to a crash with injuries reported at 7:11 a.m. on Rhett Avenue at Wright Avenue, Lance Cpl. Tyler Tidwell said. The crash involved a 2009 Toyota Camry, a 2019 Dodge Charger driven by the deputy and an unknown third vehicle that left the scene, Tidwell said.

Troopers say the Camry was traveling east on N. Rhett Avenue and the deputy’s Dodge Charger was traveling west. The unknown vehicle was traveling east and sideswiped the Toyota, which then crossed the median and struck the deputy’s vehicle head on. The drivers of both the Toyota and Dodge were transported to MUSC with non-life threatening injuries.
