Adrian, MI : One hurt in serious Raisin Twp. crash on Tuesday afternoon, January 31, 2017

A driver was seriously injured and airlifted by medical helicopter from the scene Tuesday afternoon after his Jeep Compass was struck by a garbage dump truck at the intersection of Sutton Road and Rogers Highway.

The crash occurred just before 2 p.m. when the driver of the Compass, the sole occupant and only identified as an Ann Arbor resident, was eastbound on Sutton while the dump truck was headed south on Rogers.

The Raisin Township police and fire departments, Tecumseh Fire Department, Lenawee County Sheriff's Department and Michigan State Police were on the scene.

Raisin Township Police Chief Kevin Grayer said the driver of the Compass was the only one seriously injured, but was alert and talking. The Jaws of Life and other rescue and safety equipment were used to get the driver out of the mangled vehicle. He was taken by Life Flight to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo.
