Montgomery,AL : 2 dead, 4 injured in crash on Hwy. 278 in Blount County on June, Thursday 8th 2017

Alabama State Troopers said two teenagers were killed in a two-vehicle crash in Blount County on Thursday.

The wreck happened just before 4 p.m. on Highway 278 near Snead, where a car and a minivan collided. A 17-year-old passenger in the car died at the scene. The car's 16-year-old driver was airlifted to UAB Hospital, where she later died.

The driver of the minivan, an adult passenger and a 6-year-old were airlifted to hospitals in Birmingham with serious injuries. No word yet on their conditions. Another child, age 7, was taken to Children's of Alabama with minor injuries.

The cause of the wreck is under investigation.
