Nashville, TN : All lanes of I-65 now open in Spring Hill after fatal crash on Monday, October, 9th 2017

All lanes are now open on southbound Interstate 65 near mile marker 54 in Spring Hill following Monday's fatal crash, which shut down the highway for hours.

The interstate was closed on both directions Monday evening after a four-vehicle crash left at least one person dead and multiple others injured.

It reopened completely by 7 a.m. Tuesday, according to the Tennessee Department of Transportation.

According to Spring Hill police, officers shut I-65 down for two medical helicopters, which transported two patients.

One person was confirmed dead in the wreck, which involved a vehicle being engulfed in flames, said Spring Hill police spokesman Lt. Justin Whitwell.

“There are possibly more patients in another vehicle," Whitwell said. "We’re still trying to determine because it was on fire, fully engulfed in flames."
