Des Moines,IA : Three injured in rear-end crash near Great Bend on July, Wednesday 19th 2017

Three people were injured Wednesday when a vehicle stopped for flashing red lights at a railroad crossing on U.S. 56 near Great Bend was rear-ended.

The accident occurred about 2:30 p.m. on westbound U.S. 56 at mile marker 199, which is about 4 miles southwest of Great Bend.

According to the patrol, Nona Kay Stinementz, 62, of Urbandale, Iowa, stopped her 2017 Nissan passenger car at the crossing when she was struck from behind by a 1992 Oldsmobile driven by Jackie L. Atteberry, 76, of Larned.

Stinementz, Atteberry and a passenger in the Nissan, Cara Sue Ryan, 63, of Rozel, all suffered disabling injuries and were transported to Great Bend Regional Hospital.
