Crossville, TN : One killed in Grassy Cove crash on August, 2016

An Illinois man lost his life in this single-vehicle crash that occurred on Hwy. 68 east of Grassy Cove in the area of Pennywinkle Springs. State police in Illinois were assisting Tennessee authorities in contacting the victim’s next of kin and his identity was not available at press time. The victim was driving a Chevrolet pickup toward Grandview when he lost control of the pickup as he exited the cove, causing the vehicle to strike a guardrail several times, veer into the opposite lane of traffic and then strike a guard rail again. This sent the pickup airborne and rolling onto its side as it slammed into a tree. The crash was investigated by Tennessee Highway Patrol Troopers Bobby Barker and Al Seitner.
