Seattle, WA : Two police cars collided Sunday afternoon at the intersection of 7th and Pine in downtown Seattle on September 14th 2014

Two Seattle police cars crashed into one another en route to a call in downtown Seattle early Sunday afternoon. One of the police cars was pushed by the impact under the back end of a tour bus parked at the curbside beside the Roosevelt Hotel. Neither officer appeared to be seriously injured in the crash. But one, whose airbag deployed, appeared shaken up by the impact to his vehicle, according to an eyewitness. “They were a little banged up,” said Seattle Police spokesman Drew Fowler, “But neither was taken away with major injuries.” There were four people and a driver on the parked Northwest Tour bus, but no one on that vehicle was injured either, said Fowler. Both police cars, with their lights flashing, were headed south on Seventh Avenue about 12:30 p.m. The two were responding to an emergency call from the Seattle Fire Department requesting back-up at 7th and Cherry, where a suspect was assaulting firefighters, Fowler said. As the two police cars came to the intersection at Pine Street, a third, larger vehicle turning right obstructed their view of each other, the witness to the accident said. Both police cars were severely damaged. Fowler said the cars probably will have to be written off. An hour later, tow trucks were moving both vehicles out of the roadway. Fowler said a suspect was arrested for felony assault on the firefighters and other police officers at Cherry and that no one was injured in that incident.
