One person has died following a single vehicle accident Thursday morning near Southern Pines.
Emergency personnel responded at 7:20 a.m. to reports of a silver Toyota Camry passenger vehicle hitting a tree on Midland Road near North Knoll Road.
The 60-year-old female driver, identified as Cynthia May Alexander of Southern Pines, was transported to FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst, where she was pronounced dead.
Three lanes of Midland Road were closed to traffic during the accident, according to reports.
Units with Southern Pines Fire & Rescue, Pinehurst Fire Department, Aberdeen Fire & Rescue, Moore County EMS, Southern Pines Police Department, Moore County Sheriff’s Department and the N.C. State Highway Patrol responded to the accident.
