One dead in head-on crash in Northbridge

A Northbridge man who was heading home from an overnight shift was killed in a head-on crash on Quaker Street this morning. Police said the man's Ford Explorer apparently drifted across the center line into the path of an oncoming landscaper's truck just after 8 a.m.
The driver of the Explorer, Robert Sullivan, 60, of Whitinsville was pronounced dead at Milford Regional Medical Center, according to police."There were witnesses, and the Explorer drifted without braking," said Northbridge Police Lt. Timothy Labrie.Mr. Sullivan was returning home from working the overnight shift, according to Lt. Labrie. The large landscape truck was driving north on Quaker Street, and the Explorer was headed south.The posted speed on that stretch of road is 35 mph.The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Police said speed was not a factor, according to police.
The driver of the landscape truck, Sergio Garcia, 26, of Uxbridge suffered serious face and leg injuries and was taken by Life Flight helicopter to UMass Memorial Medical Center - University Campus in Worcester.Quaker Street was closed for four hours while the state police truck team and the Central Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council investigated the crash.
