Chapel Hill, N.C : One dead in a fatal car crash on Raleigh Road on Thursday night, August 25, 2016

Chapel Hill police are investigating a fatal car crash that happened Thursday night on Raleigh Road near the intersection of Greenwood Road.

The crash happened around 9:39 p.m. when one of the cars traveled west in the eastbound lanes of Raleigh Road and was struck by another vehicle head-on.

Police say the driver of one of the vehicles was treated for minor injuries at the scene and released, while the other driver was transported to one of UNC Hospitals, where they were pronounced dead.

The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending next of kin notification.
