Elkhart, IN : Byclist injured in crash on Bristol Street in Elkhart Wednesday afternoon, August 3, 2016

A bicycle accident late Wednesday afternoon sent one woman to Memorial Hospital in South Bend for treatment.

According to an Elkhart Police Department report, a 41-year-old woman riding a bicycle was crossing Bristol Street from north to south near the intersection with Edwardsburg Avenue just before 5 p.m. Officials and witnesses at the scene could not immediately determine what caused the accident.

The bicyclist was being treated for a possible serious head injury after striking her head on the pavement.
