Ellsworth,ME : Driver injured in Bucksport Road crash on December, Friday 22nd 2017

A man was injured when his car went off the Bucksport Road and hit a utility pole Friday afternoon.

Ellsworth Police Reserve Sgt. Fred Ehrlenbach said the man, whose name was not immediately available, was driving toward Ellsworth shortly before 2 p.m. in a Subaru Baja.

Ehrlenbach said the driver was in the eastbound lane, swerved into the westbound lane and then back into the eastbound lane before going off the road at the intersection with Alexis Way.

“It appears he was distracted,” said Ehrlenbach when asked about the cause of the crash.

The Baja hit a utility pole, which broke in two places, and then continued down the embankment and stopped just short of a clump of trees.

The man, who was the only person in the vehicle, was taken by County Ambulance to Maine Coast Memorial Hospital for treatment of injuries Ehrlenbach described as minor.
