An 18-year-old passenger was injured May 22 following a crash at Route 1 and Shuttle Road.

The crash happened at 9:46 p.m. as an 18-year-old Georgetown woman was driving a 2006 Hyundai Sonata southbound on Route 1, and she failed to stop at the stop light at the Shuttle Road intersection, said Master Cpl. Gary Fournier of the Delaware State Police.

As the Sonata proceeded through the intersection, Fournier said, it struck a 2010 BMW driven by an 18-year-old Rehoboth Beach man who had entered into the intersection on a green light from Shuttle Road.

Police cited the woman with failure to stop at a red light and failure to have insurance in possession. An 18-year-old female passenger in the Sonata was taken by EMS to Beebe with undetermined injuries.

Police did not have the names of the drivers or whether anyone else was injured.
