Perris, CA : Homeland man killed in rollover crash on Saturday, 23rd January 2021

A man was thrown from a vehicle and killed in a single-vehicle rollover crash Saturday morning in the unincorporated Homeland area near Perris.

The crash was reported at 1:50 a.m. in the 32000 block of Highway 74, just west of White Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The driver was the only one in the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene, the Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department said.

He was identified as John Marks III, 30, of Homeland, according to the Riverside County coroner’s office.

The CHP said the crash involved a 2019 Ford Fusion, which witnesses said had been traveling westbound on the highway at 65-70 mph. The crash happened when the vehicle abruptly swerved left off the road and into a temporary trench filled with asphalt, where the Fusion overturned, the CHP said in a collision report.
