Fredericksburg, VA : Spotsylvania woman, 22, dies in three-vehicle crash on I-95 in Caroline on Thursday, November 3, 2016

A 22-year-old Spotsylvania County woman was killed late Thursday in a three-vehicle crash on Interstate 95 in Caroline County.

Kayla M. Jones was driving a 2002 Mazda Tribute about 11:05 p.m. north on I-95 near the 107 mile marker between the Carmel Church and Ladysmith exits, state police said in a news release.

Jones ran off the road to the right and struck a guardrail before veering back into the travel lanes and striking a 2011 Mack tractor–trailer, state police said. The driver of the Mack got out to render assistance to the driver of the compact SUV when a 2015 Freightliner tractor–trailer struck the Mazda in the rear, ejecting Jones into the median.

Jones died at the scene. The tractor–trailer drivers were not injured.
The crash remains under investigation.
