STAMFORD, CT : Stamford couple killed from car accidentally left running in garage on Monday, 27th January, 2020

A Stamford husband and wife in their 80s were found dead Monday morning, accidentally killed by a car idling overnight in their first-floor garage, police said.
Capt. Richard Conklin said a medial examiner was present at the scene in a single family home on Long Ridge Road, and the couple’s deaths appeared to be accidental.“Unfortunately this looks like a tragic accident. It looks as though a car was left running in the attached garage,” Conklin said.
He said that the fumes inside the garage permeated into the house and the two appear to have been killed by carbon monoxide poisoning.
Conklin said police received a call in the mid morning about the two residents, whose name police were not releasing until the next of kin were notified.
“This certainly speaks to the dangers of accidents similar to this and this is a very tragic situation,” he said.
