CONCORD, NC : Deadly crash involving tractor-trailer shuts down Cabarrus County road on Highway 601 between Carriker Road and Mt. Pleasant Road South in Concord on Tuesday, 17th July 2018

A portion of a road in Cabarrus County is shut down Tuesday afternoon due to a deadly crash involving a tractor-trailer.

According to county officials, the wreck happened around 9:48 a.m. on Highway 601 between Carriker Road and Mt. Pleasant Road South in Concord. Firefighters said the 10400 block of Highway 601 South is shut down in both directions.

Early indications showed that a Honda CRV was traveling south on US Highway 601 when it crossed the center line and struck the tractor-trailer.

The driver of the Honda, Courtney Gwen Davis, was killed in the crash. There were no other passengers in the Honda.

The driver of the tractor trailer was not injured.

At least one person died in the crash, according to Midland Fire and Rescue.
