Forestdale, MA : Two seriously injured after a car hit a tree on Route 130 in Sandwich Saturday evening, July 2, 2016

Two people were seriously injured when the antique car they were in hit a tree on Route 130 Saturday night.

Firefighters responded to the area of 4 Route 130, near the intersection with Artisan Way, at around 8 p.m.

They found a 1930s vintage Ford car had hit a tree, and both its occupants were ejected from the vehicle, said Sandwich Fire Capt. Jim Huska.

Firefighters requested MedFlights for both occupants of the vehicle, but the wait time was too long, so they took them to South Shore Hospital, Huska said. He said both were being treated for critical injuries there.

Mashpee and state police assisted at the scene, and the accident remains under investigation by the Sandwich Police Department.
