Two teens are dead after a horrific crash in Vacaville

Two teens are dead after a horrific crash Saturday afternoon in Vacaville.

Edgar Escalant told FOX40 that he was good friends with some of the people in the truck. In fact, Escalant says he was almost a passenger.

“I should have been in that truck but circumstances were different for me so I couldn’t go,” Escalant said Sunday.

Sources confirmed to FOX40 that 16-year-old Christie Brisley and 19-year-old Gilbert Guzman were the two that died in the crash. Three other teens, aged 16, 17 and 18, were transported to local hospitals.

Guzman’s truck was reportedly speeding down Pleasant Valley Road when it lost control. California Highway Patrol investigators believe alcohol may have played a role in the crash.

All five teens, none wearing seatbelts, were thrown from the vehicle.

“It just was so sudden. I mean, we saw these students on Friday, and now this happens Saturday night, so it’s been pretty tricky,” Vacaville High School Principal Ed Santopadre said. “It’s just the worst possible thing that could happen at a school.”

Brisley and two of the surviving passengers were students at Vacaville High School. Santopadre says Monday will be a tough day on campus. Additional counselors were to be on staff Monday.
