Darkness, fog blamed in accident that killed Antioch grad in Brentwood Tennessee

A former Antioch High and Carson-Newman football player was hit by a car Wednesday morning in Wilson County and died soon afterward, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
James Buchanan, 19, was hit as he walked in an eastbound lane of East Division Street at about 5:47 a.m.
The driver of the Buick didn’t see Buchanan because of the darkness and fog, the THP report said. No charges have been filed against the driver.
Buchanan, a 2012 Antioch High School graduate, played defensive tackle for the school’s football team in 2011.
“He was a great kid,” said Brentwood football coach Mike Woodward, who also is a former Antioch coach. “He had an infectious smile. You couldn’t help but laugh when you were with James. He was just laid-back, a great sense of humor, always found the positive in things. You would feel better being around him.”
Buchanan was planning to enroll at Cumberland to play for the Bulldogs after playing defensive line for Carson-Newman as a freshman in 2012.
