Two men from Catawba County are dead after they crashed their motorcycles on Interstate 40 on Tuesday afternoon.
Roger Lee, 36, of Hickory, and Kaa Yang, 35, of Newton, were killed in the wreck near the 115 mile marker on the eastbound side of I -40, according to Sgt. B.L. Albert with the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
According to police, a group of four motorcyclists were driving eastbound along Interstate 40 around 12:15 p.m. Two out of the four were ahead of the other two, Albert said.
“There were two motorcycles in the rear that were attempting to catch up to the guys (motorcycles) in the front as they were coming eastbound … the two motorcycles for some unknown reason , one bumps the other and they lose control,” Albert said.
