SOUTH BEND, IN : 85-year-old woman dies, husband in ICU after crash at Jefferson and 26th Street on Thursday, 23rd May 2019

An 85-year-old woman was killed when the car she was riding in was in a crash at 2:45 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of Jefferson Boulevard and South 26th Street, according to the St. Joseph County Fatal Crash team.

The woman, identified Friday as Patricia Sandilands, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Willard Sandilands, her 90-year-old husband who was driving, was admitted to the intensive care unit at a Memorial Hospital and remained there Friday, according to a news release from the FACT.

Willard Sandilands was driving his car westbound on Jefferson and preparing to turn left onto 26th Street when the car collided with another car that was eastbound on Jefferson, according to the news release.
