Lansing, MI : West Bloomfield man dies after crashing car on Tuesday, October, 10th 2017

A 52-year-old West Bloomfield man died Tuesday after an apparent medical emergency caused him to crash his car in Commerce Township, according to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office.

The driver was in a 2014 Ford Fusion going northbound on M-5 when he lost control of his car which left the roadway, traveled across two ditches and two parking lots, then ended up against a curb in the 400 block of Loop Road.

Bystanders at the scene pulled the driver from the car and began CPR before paramedics from Community EMS arrived and took him to Beaumont Hospital-Farmington Hills. He was pronounced dead a short time later, the Sheriff’s Office said.

There were no other occupants in the car or other vehicles involved in the accident, and neither alcohol nor drugs appear to have been a factor, the Sheriff’s Office said. The man was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The incident is under investigation.
